Week4:Soldier Animation

This week’s animated action design for the soldiers, according to the plot design, the soldiers will have the following regular actions, for example, walking with a gun, running with a gun, shooting in a semi-crouch, shooting upright, and being killed by a monster.
I was in charge of the soldier patrol walking with a gun, then stopping to look around, and finally being swept away by the monster’s tail and being killed.

Week 3:Character Actions

Instead of traditional character animation debugging this week, motion capture animation was used to make the character movements more natural.

Despite getting the motion capture data, the character’s frames need to be modified and need to be adjusted to where the character is located in the scene.

Week:01 FMP Scenario

During the summer holiday break, we revise the story script to avoid logical errors and make the story smoother overall.
We wanted to be able to tell the story in its entirety and be able to logically self-contain the content of the story while limiting the number of characters.

Character action references the villainous character from the Hulk 2 film – The Abomination. The monsters in Pacific Rim are shown fighting the mechs.

Summary

This week, based on George’s feedback, I revised the length of the video, cutting out useless movements, making minor adjustments to the characters’ body movements, and making extensive changes to the mouthpiece.

I still have a lot of room for revision. This is the first time I have animated facial expressions, which is a great challenge for me and I will make more detailed changes to my work later in the learning process.

Project-2

For the animation group project, I think our group executed well and was able to get a preliminary result the following week after the group leader had set the task. This saved us a lot of time. I was mainly responsible for the movement aspect of the film’s characters, which was a new venture and I was keen to become a character animator, which was a big challenge for me.
But under the guidance of Jixuan Chen, Jiawei Chen and Zheng Deng, I did my best to make the best animation adjustments I could. Of course, there were still a lot of details in the character animation that I didn’t get right, the expression animation was stiff, there were jerky character body movements, and there were many mistakes. These are all things that I will have to improve on in the future and I believe that this experience will be a valuable one for me.

Week 19:About FMP Thesis

This week I’m making a plan for the overall framework of my dissertation, and that’s all I can think of at the moment.

The thesis as a whole looks at the main characters in the animation, analysing them in detail in terms of costume, colour, dialogue behaviour and set facilities. Learn about the creative team’s approach to creating a great animated character by blending cultural elements with the character.

This book, written by COCO’s director, John Lasseter, goes into great detail about the design process, the early stages of the project, and the philosophy behind the creation of the characters.

Week 18:About FMP thesis

This week I have titled my dissertation: Exploring character design and its cultural significance in the Pixar film Coco.
Rather than discussing the impact of cultural differences on animated characters, I thought it would be better to examine how to create great animated characters with a strong cultural atmosphere. With the animated films I have seen so far, I think COCO is one of the most iconic animated films, with the production team combining Mexican culture and animation with each other, as well as the film being well received in Mexico. Of course, there are many other great cultural fusion animated films, such as Luca and Moana.

Week 18: Facial Expressions

Adjustments were made based on last week’s feedback, with improvements to the movements and larger modifications to the eyebrows and mouths of the characters’ expressions.

This week, we rendered all the footage from the character action section. The main thing is to post-produce some of the footage that was rendered as well as the memorial, we wanted to do a shot switch.
